The Importance of Music Education in Schools

As a teacher it is our responsibility to our students the knowledge and skills they need to balance and promote productive members of society. While mastering the basic subjects such as reading and writing, mathematics and the Sciences of course essential to achieving this objective are many so-called extracurricular subjects – particularly music – in this endeavour crucial. For his many tangible benefits music should be maintained and promoted are as a key component of the elementary and secondary education. For centuries music into account been considered irreplaceable part of proper training. Early universities it is taught as one of the quadrivium or four fundamental pillars of education. Albert Einstein was itself a good musician and often his discoveries in physics, he received the musical training.

 [1] Modern education, have often cut music to a luxurious and expensive “extra” program that is often marginalized, if negative budgetary issues are met. Education administrators too often mistakenly believe that music is a misguided attempt to students for a career in the music channel or at best an expensive “play time” bit for their educational development. If only the administrators could learn the incredible benefits of music education to students they could change their minds. Recent studies have shown that young people music produced more observable physical development in the brain, [2] and an average of 27% higher mathematics scores, [3] 57 points higher sat of scores[4] and a 46% increase of the IQ scores. [5] In addition to these benefits on intelligence documented, music has been learning in all other areas by improving their learning skills for attention teaching, shown social and emotional development. Students who participate in the school band or an orchestra experience the lowest gang activity and drug abuse. Especially training cognitive and behavioral therapy see benefits of music students, impact to all, regardless of their ethnicity, “at risk” status, or socio-economic background. [6] Alone, these findings should be to ensure the inclusion of a robust music program in every primary and secondary, but the benefit to end. Adolescent music education has been shown to be a reliable prediction of the success in school and working life. It was reported that about 22% apply more majors to medical schools are admitted as any other large [7] and that “the best engineers and designers in the industry in Silicon Valley almost without exception, performing musicians.” [8] My parents brought up six boys and a girl from which all strongly in music took years during their elementary and secondary school. While I have the only one of us, a professional musician and music teacher everyone my brothers and sisters, went on a successful career, including three doctors, an architect and an engineer. I feel very to you obliged, who teaches many music educators that mean family and me and am sad to hear that the chances we receive are not always available to children. I have it as my personal challenge as a music teacher and conductor individually reach each of my students and the skills and appreciation of music, awaken in them so much to joy bring to my own life made. As a public school teacher, I find great performance knowing that the skills the I teach them in the music classes and ensembles will not only allow, a life long interest but help contribute them in many other important areas of life and succeed in life. The great violin teacher Shinichi Suzuki said: “the [music] training aims to train children to professional musicians, but good musicians to be and high ability in all other areas indicate that in power.” [9] My experience has taught me that music education promotes learning and uniquely prepares children for a successful life. Together with all other subjects taught in primary schools and secondary schools I hope that I life music world as many children as I can bring. This white, I will our society do only a little better make a big difference in their lives.
